Santa Monica

  1. Santa Monica Beach View

This view of of the Santa Monica Pier and the Bubba Gump Shrimp Restaurant. This was taken on the weekend so the pier was packed with people and the parking lot was nearly full. There is actually free parking a few blocks back but non locals never know this and get taken advantage of. Sometimes parking at a parking meter and not paying it resulting in a fine will be cheaper then a full day at some of these lots. The one here isn't to bad though. I just never park here because it takes too long to get in.

  2. Orange Skies - Santa Monica Pier

The Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica Pier Amusement park. I love sunsets when there are no clouds in the sky. You get nice even even colors that are easy to tweak.

Shot with the Canon 5Dmkii and the 24-70mm f2.8L USM lens. I tweaked the exposure in Lightroom. Created a silhouette and shifted the sky to be more orange than it already was.

  3. Santa Monica Pier - HDR

Like the Golden Gate Bridge and Yosemite's Half Dome, the Santa Montica Pier is probably the most photographed thing in America. The challenge as always was to take a photo of it in a way that's never been done before. Although it was night, I decided HDR was best. The reason is, I like the way three separate shots blends the ocean waves together. It's worked well for me in the past and thought this was the perfect situation.
