You ever do that thing where you go on Vacation, take 7,000 photos, process and publish maybe ten of them and then totally forget about the rest? I always do that and I have to force myself to go back and pick out the little gems and publish them for the world to see. I probably have at least ten to twenty really nice photos I’ve taken over the years I’ve completely forgotten about. Like this one.
This is from Waimea Bay Hawaii when I was out there a few months ago. Oahu is actually a really great place for photography because the island is so small. You can drive around it a few times in one day looking for all the best spots. If you want rain you can usually find it, if you want clear skies you can find that too. It’s like Disneyland for landscape photographers.
Another Beautiful Day In Paradise – About The Shot
I took this on my Sony A7r with the Canon 16-35mm F2.8L II lens. I’m overdue for a new ultrawide lens but there just aren’t that many great ones out there. The Canon 16-35mm II is an ok lens, but it’s quality doesn’t really shine through with the high pass free 36 megapixel sensor on Sony A7r. I really hope Tamron comes out with there ultrawide zoom soon. I just don’t really understand why nobody besides Nikon has made a great ultra wide zoom lens. There is such a market for this.
I’m about to change the way I do and manage all my printing. Right now I do everything through Smugmug but I also started printing with Weldon Color Lab using Fujiflex on Acrylic and the results are absolutely amazing. So I’m thinking of offering that as a print option when I redesign that section of my site. If you want to know more about this just email me. In fact, always email me before ordering a print. That way we can discuss what’s best for you.
