I recently went down to El Matador Beach to take some more test shots with my Canon 40mm f2.8 STM lens. Although I mainly used my Canon 24-70mm f2.8L because of its wide angle abilities, I still was able to get some awesome shots on this 40mm pancake lens. It's still surprising to me how sharp this lens is for only $200 bucks. Optically my 24-70mm doesn't compare.
However, when shooting amazing scenic scenes like El Matador Beach in Malibu, one lens being slightly more sharp than another doesn't really make a huge difference. A scene like this is more about the colors and scope of the landscape. I was able to something that held a lot of detail to really take advantage of this lens sharpness.
