I've lived in Los Angeles almost seven years now and this was my first time actually going to the Hollywood sign just to take a picture. Not because I'm lazy, but this kind of Icon imagery is so over shot it really needs to be a great day outside in order to create a photo that stands out.
My goal on this night was to go all the way up to the top of the sign to get the full view of L.A. but there was a layer of fog covering the city so the trek up the sign wouldn't have been worth the effort. Instead I was able to get a cool shot from below.
If you're ever in L.A. and want to make the hike, be sure to get there at least an hour before sunset since parking and the hike will take you some time. I'm still waiting for the perfect day to do it again.
