Photography Contests and Awards

Over the next few weeks I’ve decided to make it a little hobby to build a list of all available Photography Contests where your work can be placed in exhibitions or receive awards. I’ve never submitted my work to any legitimate contests before and I always forget. I’ll try to update it with dates and some qualifications.

Fun Social Challenges

Photofriday – They have a challenge for every Friday. You have all week to find or shoot a photo for that weeks theme. The winners gets featured on the page for the next week. You’ll get a few hundred hits on your photo by doing this.

Pixoto – Win up to $2,000 a week. Plus you can sell your photos as stock.

Professional Photography Contests

AIPP / Canon: Australian Institution of Professional Photography – Huge professional photography award.
Deadline: July 12 – August 21 2013
Categories: Advertising, Commercial, Fashion, Sport, Travel, Landscape, Science & Nature, Family, Documentary, Portrait, Illustrative, Wedding, Creative.
Fees: Up to $365 for 4 prints.
Submission Guidelines: Physical Prints, minimum 26cm long edge.
Application Page: Enter Here

BIPP: British Institute of Professional Photography – This is one of the big ones. You can submit your work to them. They advise, train, and support professional photography.  Check out the BIPP Homepage as well.

International Loupe Award – Several different qualifications from Amateur and Open qualifications to Medium Format Pro.

NANPA: North American Nature Photography Association – Awards and Grants for North American Nature Photographers.

PPA Awards: – Kind of a lame site that’s not well designed which is always strange to me for an association that is suppose to represent an eye for excellence. This one doesn’t do much for me but I’ll list it anyway, just incase you’re bored.

EPSON International Pano Award: – This is a cool one but they do have a Megapixel Limitation. So you can’t just crop your 5Dmkii to be a pano. You have to stitch, or shoot on a high MP camera. Like a Medium Format and I believe they now accept D800’s.

World Open of Photography

Nature’s Best Photography

Outdoor Photographer

Famous Exhibitions – Awards and Acceptance

PSA: Photographic Society of America – This is more of an exhibit of acceptance. Like the Smithsonian. Tones of different themes and categories.

PSNZ: Photographic Society of New Zealand – You can get accepted into their Gallery as well as earn trophies. They award for prints and projected images only.

Sony World Photography Awards – Few different categories. With different requirements.

More coming soon. If you know of good ones, please submit them in the comments. Thank you!
