One thing Laguna Beach is known for is its reef. It's not choral reef like you think of when you hear reef but rather rocks covered with mussels. At low tide you can see water running off the reefs after they are hit by waves. It's one of the prettiest places to watch a sunset in Southern California.
This is an three shot HDR photo. When doing a three shot exposure of beach photography I find with Photomatix you can mask out the best looking set of waves to help create a more interesting composition. But sometimes it can also be fun to just blend all three photos together to create some wave photography that would never actually happen.
