The Sony A6300 is an older camera that came out in 2016 with a single SD card slot that can handle UHS-I speed class cards. If you want to revive this old beauty and use it today, you might wonder what kind of memory cards are best for it. This guide will teach you some of the fundamentals and suggest what to look for when searching for the best memory card for the Sony A6300.

Recommended Memory Cards Sony A6300

Sony E UHS-II

The A6300 can use UHS-I SD cards, which are a fairly common and inexpensive type of memory card.

The A6300 needs a UHS-I card that can write at least 12.5MB/s for 4K video recording. It writes data at 100Mbps, which is the same as 12.5MB/s. You need a U3 or V30 speed class card for this. And any of these cards are also good for taking photos.

The A6300 can use memory cards up to 128GB. You can use 64-256GB cards without any problems. The A6300 cannot write faster than 33MB/s, so you do not need to buy the most expensive cards.

These are some of the best memory cards for the A6300. I recommend looking at the Sony E cards, they have UHS-I speeds great for UHS-I cameras, but feature UHS-II read speeds which is great for file transfers.

Best Memory Card For The Sony A6300

Like other Sony E-Mount cameras, the Sony A6300 has a slow memory card write speed limit. So most memory cards have the same speed, about 33MB/s.

I used CyrstalDisk – Windows 10 and the Lexar SR2 to do all USB 3.0 tests.

4k 100M Recording With Sony A6300

Many Sony users struggle with their memory cards when they want to shoot 4k 100M videos with the XAVC S codec. I think this is because Sony cameras scan each card when you put it in the camera to see if it’s U3 compatible or not. Sometimes these cards fail the test and the camera asks you to use a U3 memory card instead. The only solution for now is to get a new memory card. The Sony brand is the best option right now. Lexar and Sandisk are also good choices.

4k 100M Requirements

Both SDHC and SDXC memory cards can work for 4k video on the Sony A6300. Sony used to have problems with XAVS S on SDHC memory cards, but they have been updating the firmware of older cameras and launching new cameras like the A6300 with this feature.

You still need U3 memory cards to record 4K 100M video without any issues.

Best SD Memory Card Sony A6300 Conclusions

I was disappointed that Sony did not improve their camera’s memory card speed. They boast about how fast this camera can take pictures and how great the autofocus is, but then you have to wait a long time for the buffer to empty compared to the rivals.

However, if you are a casual shooter who does not do much burst shooting, you will probably not notice these slow speeds and shooting will be fun.
