Nikon D850 vs Sony A7rII – Sensor Comparison

  • Alik Griffin

You've probably seen a lot of comparisons between the Nikon D850 and the Sony A7rII or A7rIII these last few weeks, comparing sensor sharpness, dynamic range or low light performance. But they often make one critical mistake, they don't use the same lens. So to compare both cameras, I wanted to use the same lens. To do this, I employed an old and very sharp Helios 44-4 58mm lens that I have adapted to both cameras and shot using the exact same settings.

GoPro Hero6 vs Hero5 | A Huge Improvement!

  • Alik Griffin
  • July 31, 2018

When comparing the GoPro Hero5 to the Hero6, on the outside it doesn't look like much has changed. Even looking at the specs, it doesn't seem like there are any huge updates after this one year cycle. Higher frame rate and video stability at 4k are not that big of a deal to a lot of people, especially if you already have a Karma Grip. However, when you get both cameras and put them side-by-side, you'll immediately notice huge improvements with the Hero6! Huge! I'll list just a few.

Canon 6D II Review | This Beauty Is A Beast!

  • Alik Griffin

The Canon 6D Mark II is the new "entry-level" full frame camera from Canon and it's a beast! Shooting with the 6DII was the most fun I've had with a full frame camera in a long time. Partly because of its full frame sensor, partly because the camera has a lot of great features that you just don't find in many full frame cameras, like the vari-angle touch screen.

Canon SL2 (EOS 200D) – Impressions

I don't do a lot of reviews on cameras I don't own, but recently I had the Canon SL2 for a weekend and was so impressed by the way it shot and felt that I had to take it out for a day of shooting. Here are my initial impressions.

Fujifilm X100F – A Real World Review

  • Alik Griffin
  • February 16, 2026

The X100F is Fujifilm's new masterpiece and the fourth addition to the famous x100 line of cameras. The X100F seems to have taken the biggest step forward of any of the X100 camera upgrades with a new 24MP sensor and new battery for improved life and performance. Not only that but the X100F is also a autofocusing beast. It's what I consider the most versatile fixed lens camera money can buy and a street photographers dream come true.

The Specs . . . 4k video, a 24 megapixel sensor, two-way tilt screen, dual UHS-II memory card slots, boost performance of 14fps with a battery grip. Did Fujifilm just make the best APS-C camera on the market?

Fujifilm X70 – A Quick Review

  • Alik Griffin
  • December 18, 2024
The Fujifilm X70 is the answer to those who want amazing image quality in as small of a package as possible. It has a lot of the same things we love about the X100T, but is much smaller and much lighter. In terms of image quality, it might be the best camera I've used that's still small enough to fit in your pocket.

Sounds great right? That's what I thought, but I actually don't love it. Here is why . . .

Sony A6300 Review – The Full Frame Killer

  • Alik Griffin
  • February 5, 2026
The Sony A6300 is Sony's flagship APS-C camera. Compared to the A6000, the camera features an all magnesium weather resistant body that feels much more rugged and solid in the hand. The camera also features a new sensor and the ability to shoot 4k. With Sony's growing APS-C lens lineup, the A6300 is one of the most versatile yet affordable cameras on the market. It's also one of the first of a new generation of APS-C cameras that are closing the gap on full frame.

Fujifilm X-Pro 2 Review | A Camera With A Soul

  • Alik Griffin
  • December 29, 2024
With a huge bump in megapixels, processing power and build quality, the X-Pro 2 is not just better than original X-Pro 1, but it's one of the best camera Fujifilm has built to date. Doing a camera review and being completely objective is something that is extremely difficult. Some reviewers will focus on some aspects of a camera while ignoring others. It's fine when smaller independent bloggers do this since it's fun seeing their opinion, like Steve Huff for example. But large sites, like DPreview or even TheCameraStore, will often cast a negative light on a camera and influence customer buying decisions while not giving credit to or maybe not even understanding the design philosophy of a camera.
