The Lone Climber

While in Zion National Park this winter with my wife and another fam, we were just looking at one of the views when my sister-in-law spotted a strange shape on the mountain. I just thought it was snow gathering on one of the trees but it seemed like it was moving. So I pulled out my Canon 70-200mm lens and slapped it onto my A7r and got a closer look. And lo and behold, a lone mountain climber.

The Legend People of Bryce Canyon

This photo was taken at Bryce Canyon Utah. This was my first time at this location. Never really knew much about it growing up since the Grand Canyon always takes all the glory. But I think this place is more interesting than the Grand Canyon. It's not as epic but definitely more interesting.  The Hoodoos of the Bryce Canyon I've noticed always seem to look best with a little snow around them. So my goal was to hit it in the winter which can be a risk in Utah at this altitude. Luckily we had clear skies and missed any bad snowstorms.

Utah Million Dollar View

Utah’s Million Dollar View

As you drive into Utah coming from Arizona, you'll come across this spot called the Million Dollar View. It's technically a little higher than this, but these are some of the mountains in that view. I just got down and got a closer look. For a point of reference, Lake Powell is a few hundred yards to the right of this mountain. This whole area is pretty awesome. I have a few more shots here that I'll be posting as I get more time to process them. I would love to go back here and really spend a few days exploring the landscape and seeing what kinds of photos I can get. But unfortunately, it's a 9-hour drive from my house, so that's probably not going to happen anytime soon.
