This was my first time at the Zion National Park in Utah. I made the mistake of only only planning to be here for one day not realizing this place was so big with so much to do. All we had time to do was drive through and hike a couple of trails. This time of year a lot of the trails were very icey or muddy, and it gets dark early so there wasn’t much more we could have done without some serious planning.
I have to say, I wasn’t expecting the Zion National Park to be as epic as it was. It’s a photographer’s paradise. Easily up there with Yosemite as far as awesomeness. Although I still think I might like Yosemite a little more. But we’ll see, I’m planning to hike through the Narrows on my next trip.
I shot this photo on my A7r at the very end of the day on our way out. The sun was setting behind the cliffs and it was getting dark quickly. We pulled to the side of the road just before the big tunnel on the way out. Took three bracketed photos to capture all the exposure detail and light possible and combined them in Photomatix, Denoised and sharpened in Photoshop, and finished/colored in Lightroom.
