Lost In The Woods – A7r

Japan Bamboo Forest

As I've been getting ready to leave for Japan next week, I was sifting through some of my old photos from last year that I've never published and found this shot.

My wife and I found this cool little bamboo forest growing naturally near Magaribuchi Dam Park. Somewhere in the middle of nowhere. It was actually very peaceful and undisturbed except in one place deep in the forest where I found an discarded toilet. Still not exactly sure how that happened.

The cool thing about Japan is there are so many places like this. These really cool parks or temples that almost feel abandoned but yet have so much history. Some places will even have an almost haunted, eerie feeling to them. It's really hard to explain but we were at this one temple once that was just creepy. Felt like someone was standing over your shoulder the entire time you were there.

Above The Sky – Mount Kilauea

Mount Kilauea

I've been meaning to get back into some of my photos from Hawaii but I've just been so busy doing all the Fuji X100T tests and reviews that I keep forgetting.

I got some really nice shots in Hawaii, it's almost too easy when you go to such an amazing place like that. Every place you go and everywhere you look is a potential great shot, especially on the big island.

Winds Edge – Oahu Hawaii

Hawaii Landscape Photography.

After driving around the Island a few times my wife and I found this cool spot. It was near china man's hat and was one of the few places in Oahu that's pretty vacant of people. 

I've been to Oahu a few times and have always been busy surfing or getting married or hanging out with the parents when I was younger, but now that I had my own car, my wife and I completely explored the island. It's surprising how small the island really is but incredible how photogenic it is. You can pretty much shoot endlessly there.

Mahai’ula Bay – Big Island Hawaii

Hawaii Big Island Landscape.

As a landscape photographer rarely do you find a place where you can just roll up mid day and take a breath taking photo. This location is one of those places. With the emerald blue water, perfect skies and white sand beaches, I ended up only using Lightroom with a few minor adjustments to process the shot. That almost never happens for. I almost always have to use Photoshop to adjust something.

Ox Wagons Of Okinawa Japan

While waiting to take a trip across the water in one of these wagons, I was able to snap a few quick shots.

First off I gotta say, Okinawa is pretty cool. I feel like it's one of those places you have to go to or at least try to at some point in your life.

The whole time I was there I kept thinking I was in Hawaii but then nobody spoke english. Except it's not an annoying tourist trap like Hawaii is. This place is still pretty rural with amazing culture. Although hospitality sucks compared to mainland Japan. Okinawans are little bitches. That part reminds me of Hawaii. ;)

Serenity – La Jolla California

Fine Art Landscape Photo taken at the Scripps Pier, La Jolla California.

It's been awhile since I've been down to the Scripps Pier. I know it's a hot spot for landscape photographers now because of Peter Lik. And it was, I had to wait in line to get this shot, but I needed to get done. I've been slowly working on shooting all the piers of Southern California. Only a few more to go.

This pier is not quite like the other piers in that its symmetry is really nice. The columns stand straight up and down creating a really nice view into the horizon. 

I think as a photographer if you're looking to shoot Scripps Pier, do it on a week day, and maybe in the winter. You might have less people to contend with.

The Legend People of Bryce Canyon

This photo was taken at Bryce Canyon Utah. This was my first time at this location. Never really knew much about it growing up since the Grand Canyon always takes all the glory. But I think this place is more interesting than the Grand Canyon. It's not as epic but definitely more interesting.  The Hoodoos of the Bryce Canyon I've noticed always seem to look best with a little snow around them. So my goal was to hit it in the winter which can be a risk in Utah at this altitude. Luckily we had clear skies and missed any bad snowstorms.
