The Verbatim Pro Memory card is a mid-range UHS-I U3 SD memory card. While the card doesn’t have the fastest write speeds, the u3 rating guarantees a minimum write speed of 30MB/s, making this still a great card for any 4k video recordings under 240Mbps.

Verbatim Pro U3 Review

Verbatim Pro U3 UHS-I SD CardThe Verbatim Pro U3 memory card has pretty fast read speeds of 96.6 MB/s, and fairly slow write speeds of 68.0 MB/s based on our tests with the USB-C Sandisk USH-II memory card reader.

These scores put this card in a similar speed class to the standard Sandisk Extreme Cards. Actually, this card did outperform the Sandisk Extreme by about 10MB/s.

Card Name USB-C Read USB-C Write
Verbatim Pro U3  96.6 MB/s 68.0 MB/s

To see how this card compares to other cards in a similar price range, check out the memory card comparison guide.

Verbatim Pro U3 For Video

For 4k or 8k video, the Verbatim has a U3 or V30 rating. This means it is guaranteed to sustain a 30MB/s data stream. When shooting video it’s important to have a fast guaranteed write speed since the camera can’t rely heavily on the buffer for long recordings. While the card performs at 68.0 Mb/s occasions some speeds can drop as the card gets closer to being full or if it’s fragmented in any way.

30Mb/s is still very good and this will allow a recording of any video bitrate of 240Mbps or lower. With h.265 growing in popularity, this 240Mbps should produce some very good results with 4k video. Higher bitrate recordings may work, but this card only guarantees 240Mbps.

Verbatim has been around for a very long time as a leader in storage media.

Children from the 90s may remember using their burnable CDs and then DVDs. Now Verbatim is making various types of flash, SD cards, USB sticks, and other electronic accessories.

The Verbatim Pro+ U3 memory card is their flagship UHS-I memory card and produces some pretty impressive speeds for a pretty good price. With the v30 rating, this is also a great option for midrange 4k video with a data rate of no more than 240Mbps. Which isn’t bad at all when using H.265.

Verbatim Pro+ U3 SD Card Review

Verbatim Pro+ Memory CardWhen benchmarking the Vertabim Pro+ it performs slightly above its rated spec which is very good.

The Verbatim Pro+ SD card clocked in reading speeds at 98.5MB/s and write speeds at 83.7MB/s using the Sandisk USB-C UHS-II memory card reader.

It’s not as fast as the best cards from Sandisk, Delkin, or Transcend, but it’s very close.

Card Name USB-C Read USB-C Write
Verbatim Pro + U3 V30 UHS-I 98.5 MB/s 83.7 MB/s

To see how this card compares to the competition, see the sd card comparison chart.

Verbatim Pro+ U3 For Video

This card has a v30, or U3 rating. Meaning it has a minimum guaranteed write speed of 30MB/s. When converting that to megabits per second we see a minimum write speed of 240mbps. This means this card will sustain any video bitrate whether that’s 4k or 8k if it’s 240mbps or lower.

Most cameras like Fujifilm and Sony allow you to shoot at lower bitrates, and many cameras today still offer bitrates of only 100-200mbps. So the Verbatim Pro+ memory card is fine for most midrange cameras for video shooting.
