Best Memory Cards Fujifilm X-S20

The Fujifilm X-S20 has a single SD card slot that will utilize UHS-II V90 cards.

While V90 UHS-II cards are the best SD memory cards for the Fujifilm X-S20, you only need V60 cards to take full advantage of the camera’s features. While V90 cards will give you improved speeds when clearing the buffer (useful when bursting at 20fps since the camera has a small buffer), they won’t be necessary for anything else.

To handle the X-S20’s max 6.2k video bitrate of 360mbps, you’ll need at least a UHS-II V60 card. However, if you shoot video at lower bitrates (anything under 240 Mbps), you could switch to UHS-I cards for significant cost savings.

This chart shows the speed at which each card performs in Fujifilm cameras (tests taken from the Fujifilm X-H2s in this sample). You can compare the card’s and minimum sustained speeds against the camera’s video bitrate.

There are a few great Tough cards on the market now. For example, the Sony Tough and the Lexar ARMOR cards. These cards are great since they are so durable, but there are a few downsides. For one, they are a little thicker than your standard plastic card, so in Fujifilm cameras, where the memory card slot is next to the battery door, they can be a little difficult to remove. You can use these cards, but I wouldn’t recommend them if you regularly remove your card from your camera.

To see more information about each card, check out the SD memory card benchmarks.

Using Film Simulators

If you’re shooting JPGs with settings like grain and clarity enabled, processing time will be your bottleneck more than card speed. So, having v90 speeds might not be a huge advantage if you’re shooting a lot with highly edited film simulators.

Fujifilm X-S20 Capacity

What is the maximum capacity of memory cards that can be used with the Fujifilm X-S20?

The Fujifilm X-S20 is officially compatible with SD memory cards up to 2 TB.

Fujifilm X-S20 Camera Specs

Sensor Size: 26.1MP APS-C X-Trans BSI CMOS 4 Sensor
SD Card Slot: Single Slot SD UHS-II
Maximum SD Card Size / Memory Card Capacity: Up To 2TB.
Estimated Buffer Size: 512MB
Video Bitrate: Fujifilm X-S20 has a bitrate of up to 360Mbps.
Video Resolution: 6.2k 29.97, 4K 59.94, 1080p 240fps

Fujifilm X-S20: What Size Card To Buy?

I’d recommend starting with a 128GB card for photo and video usage. For those focusing more on high-bitrate video, you may want to move up to a 256GB card.

Fuji X-S20 Bitrates

Look at this chart, which displays the recording durations for different card sizes when shooting at a few bitrate settings.

Video Rates Megabytes 128GB 256GB 512GB
H.265 360Mbps 45MB/s 47min 95min 190min
H.265 200Mbps 25MB/s 85min 171min 341min
H.265 50Mbps 6.25MB/s 341min 683min 1,365min

Best SD Cards Fujifilm X-S20 | Conclusions

The Fujifilm X-S20 is a fantastic camera that can deliver outstanding results with the right SD cards. Sony, Lexar, or Delkin all offer dependable 128GB UHS-II SD cards that work seamlessly with the Fuji X-S20.

Remember, the camera will only need faster-than-V60 cards if you want to clear the buffer quickly when bursting. And if you’re shooting film simulators with JPGs, the processor will almost always hold you back more than any card’s speed.
