  • A Fuji Xmas At Big Bear

A Fuji Xmas At Big Bear

For Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, my wife and I decided to get out of town and go up to experience winter in Big Bear. It was also a great place to take photos with the Fuji X100T. I originally planned to shoot some landscapes at Big Bear Lake or Lake Arrowhead, but you know…

  • Serenity – La Jolla California

    Serenity – La Jolla California

It’s been a while since I’ve been to the Scripps Pier. I know it’s a hot spot for landscape photographers now because of Peter Lik. And it was. I had to wait in line to get this shot, but I needed to finish it. I’ve been slowly working on shooting all the piers of Southern…

  • New Release – Last Light

    New Release – Last Light

This was the final frame from my night at Joshua Tree National Park. It was taken a moment before the moon set behind the mountains, casting the landscape into total darkness. I spent a lot of the night experimenting with various techniques while using the moon as my key source of light. I thought it…

  • New Release: Malibu Gold

    New Release: Malibu Gold

This Landscape Photo was taken near the Malibu Pier in Malibu California. It was an extremely high tide so I was able to capture the waves interacting with the foreground rock formation. The lighting and time of day made the rock look almost like gold.

  • Solvang Poppies

    Solvang Poppies

Here’s another shot of Solvang from last weekend. The poppies are in bloom this time of year in Cali. Some areas further north of Los Angeles almost completely cover some hillsides. They are also great foreground objects, with some windmills from Solvang in the background. For this photo, I pulled out Nik’s Color Efex Pro.…

  • Dansk Bangeri of Solvang

    Dansk Bangeri of Solvang

My wife and I adventured to Solvang, California, again this last weekend for a little getaway trip. I thought it was such a cool town the last time I was there, but I never ended up with any great photos, so I went back for a day with that goal in mind. You can see…

  • How To Make Money as a Landscape Photographer

How To Make Money as a Landscape Photographer

Recently I’ve been poking around at how many pro Landscape photographers have made their money. It seems to be one big mystery with many different opportunities. Some old-school landscape guys recommend that people looking to get into it just pick a different career. But what’s funny is they all say the same thing: stock photography…

  • Hermosa Beach Pier Sunset

    Hermosa Beach Pier Sunset

This is a photo I took back in 2012. I never got around to processing it, but I’m glad I waited because my Photoshop abilities have improved dramatically since then. This photo is made up of two separate exposures. Without two, the skies would have been blown out.

  • San Clemente Life

    San Clemente Life

There was a rare and beautiful sunset at the San Clemente Pier last Sunday. This photo almost didn’t happen. I didn’t have my tripod base plate for my camera, and I was running a bit late to the beach. Luckily, a parking spot popped up immediately when I got there, and I ended up using…

  • Beacon at Davenport – Santa Cruz

Beacon at Davenport – Santa Cruz

While in Santa Cruz, my mission was to take photos of the Davenport abandoned pier. But the weather was so bad, and the high tide made it impossible to get to the pier. So, the mission failed. But I did find this cool rock shining through the fog like a beacon. You could barely see…
