There was a rare and beautiful sunset at the San Clemente Pier last Sunday. This photo almost didn’t happen. I didn’t have my tripod base plate for my camera, and I was running a bit late to the beach. Luckily, a parking spot popped up immediately when I got there, and I ended up using my Gorilla Pod mini tripod to stabilize the camera.
I mounted my camera to the Gorilla Pod and then wrapped that around the top of my tripod. It was ghetto and very difficult to stabilize since those things aren’t all that sturdy with a 5Dmkii and a 24-70mm f2.8L lens. I switched to my 16-35mm because it’s way lighter. But in the end, it all worked out. I got a few different exposures that I later stitched together in Photoshop.
