The Fujifilm X-Pro 2 has recently become my favorite camera for incidental photography. I kind of just leave it around so it’s very accessible, near the front door or wherever, and grab it whenever I go outside. Aside from my X100F, it’s become my grab-it-and-go camera with the advantage of swapping lenses depending on my mood.
The thing about doing this is that I sometimes go weeks without downloading the files from my cards. But the cool thing about that is I’m then left with some nice surprises or shots that I don’t remember taking, and it often gives me a nonobjective view of what I’ve shot.
X-Pro 2 | Beautiful Imperfections
Lately, I’ve been shooting a lot with those old Helios lenses. The 44M, 44M-2, and 44M-4 on the X-Pro 2 get some pretty crazy looks. They are lenses I’ve really come to love for all their beautiful imperfections.
These oddments are all shot with various Helios lenses on the X-Pro 2, unfortunately I have no way of knowing what’s what, except the 44M-2 does have a bit more swirlies going on.
This post is also mostly about my daughter since she is the main motivator for getting me outside.
Except for the above shots, many of these are also colored with the RNI film simulators using Kodachrome. I’ve come to really love this look and find myself using it more and more. The above shots were most likely taken on the Helios 44M-2 because of the swirling bokeh.
Hopefully, my last few posts have made sense. I’ve been working a lot lately, which wreaks havoc on my dyslexia. I don’t know how many non-fulltime bloggers/photographers out there manage to do such awesome posts regularly while still having compelling writing. It’s a lot harder than it looks, and I have so much respect for these guys who are doing it. LaRoque, Rask, and Arias, to name a few. – The neighbor’s car alarm that goes off every 10 minutes isn’t helping either.
