Lexar 633X SD Memory Card Review

Lexar has always been known to make great UHS-II memory cards. The Lexar 2000x is one of the best UHS-II memory cards available to date. Their 633X UHS-I card however, is only just decent. It's not slow, it's just not fast compared to what the other memory card titans have to offer.  Lexar cards will become more increasingly difficult to find as they have been discontinued as a brand.

The Samsung EVO card is one of Samsung’s slowest cards. It’s also a fairly old card as the new models of the EVO cards put out some decent performance.  I…

Samsung Pro U1 SD Memory Card Review

The Samsung Pro U1 SD Memory card is a decent card from Samsung. It performs about the same as the Sandisk Extreme Plus except this card comes in a U1 variant, which could create problems for videographers. Samsung does have a U3 version of this card but it's much more difficult to find. It may have been discontinued. Samsung memory cards also have some compatibility issues with 4k or XVAC S video in Sony cameras. And since this card isn't U3, it won't be compatible with Sony's advanced video codecs. For casually shooting with any other brand like Fujifilm, Canon or Nikon, the Samsung Pro U1 card works great.

Sandisk Ultra SD Memory Card Review

The Sandisk Ultra is sort of Sandisk Junk card. They aren't yet available in the U3 or V30 speed class and their performance in general is very slow. But not all is bad with the Ultra cards. They do have some very impressive read speeds, but write speeds are usually on the bottom of the charts.  This could still be a good memory card for videographers that are using cameras that don't record in a very high bitrate. For example the Micro-SD version of this card is a great sd card for the GoPro. This of course is not the micro version and I believe GoPro stopped using standard SD cards after the Hero3.

Sandisk Extreme SD Memory Card Review

The Sandisk Extreme cards sit further down the Sandisk family in terms of performance. Where the Sandisk Extreme Plus saw the same read speeds as the Pro and only slightly slower write speeds, the Extreme will have even slower write speeds and slightly slower read speeds. This doesn't make Extreme a bad card, in fact the Sandisk Extreme cards are still great for many devices. A lot of entry-level cameras aren't capable of producing very fast write speeds, so this makes the Sandisk Extreme a great bang for the buck for those devices.

This photo was taken in the Lower Antelope Canyon. I combined three shots captured at different exposures manually to create a single, well-exposed image.

NYC Epic Sunset

I have so many photos of NYC from the Top of the Rock that it's fun to pick one here and there and go crazy with Photoshop just to see what happens. I'm still learning more and more techniques so I'm getting a lot faster with it. Unfortunately, when I was in New York, I didn't do a ton of photography since so much of my time there was spent figuring out how to get from one point to the next.

NYC From The Top Of The Rock

I've finally gotten into processing some of my New York City shots from my 5Dmkii. It's been fun, but it takes a bit more time since I do the majority of work in Photoshop. This shot has nothing crazy, just a little burn and dodge, color tweaks, and some color overlays. The Raw already looked pretty good.
