Are Fuji lenses weather resistant?
Yes, most of the new lenses made by Fujifilm are now weather-sealed.
Fujifilm Weather-Sealed Lenses
Here are two lists showing the weather-sealed lenses Fujifilm makes. I’ve broken it down to Prime lenses and Zoom lenses.
I’ve updated the table on the Fujifilm FX List Of Lenses so you can now just sort by weather sealed.
What Fuji Lenses Have Weather Sealing?
This list shows all the prime Fuji weather-resistant lenses.
As with a lot of lenses, they should be paired with a UV filter for better weather resistance.

Do You Need Weather-Sealed Lenses?
Typically this depends on the situation. Most studio shooters will not require any weather sealing, but a street photographer or travel/nature photographer will benefit from them.
Even with weather sealing, some photographers will still cover their lenses with plastic when out shooting in the snow or rain or near waterfalls.
If you shoot in the desert or in dusty environments a lot, dust will actually kill your lenses gradually over time as it gets sucked in and sticks to the inner elements. Eventually, even mold can grow if spores get inside.
How Good Are Fuji X Weather-Sealed Lenses?
Fujifilm rates them as dust and moisture-sealed. Designed for working in harsh environments.
This does not mean you should let them get continuously drenched by rain. Common sense practices should still be used when shooting in harsh environments.
You should always use some type of filter to protect the front element from any moisture as well when shooting in the rain or snow.
When you’re lenses do get wet, you should clean them and store them in a dry cabinet, or something similar overnight. I sometimes use silicone beads in a pelican case or ziplock bags when traveling as seen in this protect your lenses from moisture guide.

Nice article. Make sure to add the fantastic 70-300 zoom WR zoom 🙂
Hey Alik. Do you think shooting at the beach occasionally would require weather-sealing?
If you just shoot occasionally you should be fine. But be careful if you like to get right in with the surf since a lot of spray will get all over your lens. Make sure you use a UV filter in those situations, and you’ll eventually start getting more corrosion inside your camera and lens if they are not well sealed and you shoot this way a lot. Happened to my original A7r.
If you’re just casually shooting at the beach and there isn’t a ton of waves and spray, you should be ok. I shot with a 14mm Samyang at the beach for years, and it never had any issues.
