This was my first attempt at making a Milk Way landscape shot. I know there are several formulas but the elements are always changing and you just have to keep trying different settings until you look good. I ended up with a 30-second shutter at an f2.8 with ISO 3200 and a bit of Photoshop. It worked well for my 16mm lens.
I was fortunate enough to get a clear moonless sky the night I was at Monument Valley. And even luckier that the Milky Way lined up with one of the Mitts. They say photography is always about being in the perfect place at the perfect time. And it’s so true. I even managed to get another galaxy or planet in the shot. Can’t quite tell. Looks like a galaxy.
