Some of the strangest weather I’ve experienced in Southern California this last week. We were driving south on the 405. It was 100 degrees outside, and then 10 minutes later, it was 75 degrees and raining.
Usually, when we experience this crazy weather, we also experience insane sunsets. I’m glad I was able to make it to Huntington Beach. I thought the sunset would be a dud, but nature surprised me.
This was shot on the Sony A7rII with the Sony 16-35mm f4 OSS lens. Beach and wave photography is always a challenge because you need to sit there and hit the shutter repeatedly until you get the waves how you like them. I always bracket in these situations, so when I’m done, I end up with hundreds of files to sift through at the end of the day.
I combined two photos for this shot to get the water how I wanted and had to paint many people out.
