When I first started testing memory cards in my GoPro Hero 7 Black, the first thing I noticed was the camera got very hot and record times were getting cut short. Usually about 20-30 minutes. I would get no prompt, no message, nothing, recordings would just stop.
It seemed when just sitting my cool room, the max record time I could get with a GoPro Hero 7 Black at 4k60 was about 30 minutes.
GoPro again switched up their lineup with the Hero 7 Black, Silver and White cameras. Each camera is tuned a little bit differently, some with completely different hardware which means they will all have slightly different issues when it comes to memory cards. You can’t just buy any memory card you want with GoPro cameras.
I’ve tasted all the most popular memory cards and even the fastest memory cards in the GoPro Hero 7 black as well as the 6 and 5.
The GoPro Hero 7 is the most friendly camera towards various memory card brands to date, however, it was overheating when I tested it with cheaper cards.
