Renting a Jeep to take photos with on the Big Island of Hawaii is fun. I rented one for two days to see if those 4 wheel access spots were worth it. They were not.
I’m pretty sure those tourist guides and the rental car companies profit from each other. Needing a 4-wheel drive on the Big Island is the biggest joke I have ever felt. Granted, some gnarly 4-wheel drive trails are a lot of fun if you’re into it, which I am, so I had fun. And taking pictures of my Jeep was also a lot of fun. But just for the ma and pa on vacation, it’s probably completely unnecessary.
The Rental Jeep
I love car commercial photography and always wanted to try it / get into it. So, while driving around the Big Island of Hawaii last Fall, I also spent much of my time looking for the right location and conditions to take pictures of my Jeep. I managed to get a few decent photos; here is one I touched up last night for fun.
The Photoshop process is pretty easy for something like this. I did some Shadow/Highlights adjustments, lens flares, burn, and dodge with some path motion blur. Once that was done, I imported it into Lightroom for final color adjustments since adjusting color in Lightroom is 1,000,000 times easier and quicker. That’s pretty much it.
