Essential Accessories Sony A6600

Best Screen Protector Sony A6600

There is only one brand of screen protector I go to anymore for my cameras and that’s Expert Shield. They make several styles of screen protectors and they have a lifetime warranty that is very easy to use.

Expert Shield Screen Protector Sony A6600

Best Screen Protector A6100Available At: Amazon

Expert Shield has a few different styles of screen protectors, the Crystal Clear, the Glass, and the Anti-Glare. Crystal Clear is a simple thin screen protector that offers some basic ding protection and scratch resistance. Glass is a thicker protector, it has a ridged surface and won’t peel off as easily. It also will protect the screen even more from dings and scratches. The Anti-glare screen protector reduces the reflections which can be useful when shooting outside or in bright conditions. It will reduce the quality of the LCD though.

Best Batteries Sony A6600

The Sony A6600 uses the bigger FZ100 batteries. I originally had them listed as the FW50 so sorry for anyone confused by that. I haven’t gotten my hands on this camera yet. Hopefully this month.

You will need to be a little careful about buying third party batteries with the FZ100 since Sony firmware doesn’t like the older third-party batteries in this model. I stick with RavPower, they work on my A7rIII.

Best Memory Cards Sony A6600

I’ve tested all the most popular UHS-II and UHS-I memory cards in the Sony A6600.

The Sony A6600 is only a UHS-I camera so buying memory cards is pretty straight forward. Only buy UHS-II cards if you need faster transfer speeds to your computer, and in that case, you will only need something like a Sony E card or V60 UHS-II cards.

See the full guide for some great recommendations and benchmarks.

Sony A6600 Cases & Body Accessories

If you’re looking for a nice Sony A6600 case, camera protection or some nice grips I’ll list the products I have used and have liked over the years.

Sony A6600 Cases and Half Cases

There are a lot of nice cases and grips to pick from for the  Sony A6600. While I usually only like to list the “Best Accessories,” for these less expensive cameras I’ll list even the cheaper stuff because people are usually pretty happy with them for the price. My buddy actually loves his Megagear case on his A6000. I don’t personally use the cheaper cases though but considering the cost of the A6600, it just makes sense to not buy a case that’s 1/4th the cost of the camera.

MegaGear Ever Ready Genuine Leather Case

Gariz Leather Case A6600Available At: Amazon

If you want a really nice leather half case the Gariz cases are nice. I’ve owned a few of these for different cameras and I’ve always liked the way they fit and the extra grip they add.

These cases also have an aluminum base plate which is nice for mounting a tripod plate too.

SmallRig ColdShoe Adapter

Sony A6600 Cold ShoeAvailable At: Amazon

SmallRig has a few options for cold shoe adapters for the A6600. You can get a setup that allows you to mount two cold shoe devices, or just one on the left or one on the right. The choice is yours. These are great if you want to mount a mic or something off to the side.

SmallRig Camera Cage A6600

A6600 CageAvailable At: Amazon

SmallRig has released a new cage for the A6600. These are the best cage and are totally worth the price. SmallRig also makes other accessories for their cages, like extra handles and grips, so keep an eye out for those if you want to expand your cage. These cages are Amazing.

Sony A6600 Bags

There are so many different types of carrying cases and bags, some very expensive like this super cool Peak Design Sling Case (Amazon) and some very cheap.

Instead of listing all the best bags for the A6600, I’ll list you some bags I use regularly that are good bags at a good price. These are the Think Tank Mirrorless Mover line.

These bags I use for everything, packing lenses or cameras in my suitcases or backpacks or just carrying them around as a shoulder bag for my camera. I have a few different sizes so sometimes if I just want to carry an extra lens, I grab my small bag and throw a lens in it. I’ve just found these smaller bags to be incredibly versatile.

Think Tank Mirrorless Mover

Think Tank BagAvailable At: Amazon

The Think Tank Mirrorless Mover bags come in serval sizes. I own the 5, the 10 and the 20. You could fit just the body of the A6600 in the 5 but really it’s better to use it on compacts or for lenses. The 10 and 20 are more what you want for the A6600. Check the dimensions of your kit with your lens to see what will work for you but these are great. I’m just literally always using one of these bags for everything even with my other bags so I’ve found them to be incredibly useful.

A6600 Camera Straps

Sony A6600 Leather Straps

The leather straps can get a little pricey, but if you want a strap that will last you the rest of your life, leather is the way to go.

Here are several brands of leather straps I’ve been using over the years. These are the best brands.

LuigiCases

Available At: LuigiCases

I love the Luigi Deluxe leather strap. It’s the best there is and mine has held up for years. It’s totally worth the money. The site is a little chaotic but they are 100% legit. I’ve ordered from them and I love my Deluxe Strap. It’s the best strap I’ve ever owned.

Tap&Dye

Available At: Tap&Dye

Tap&Dye is probably the best American leather camera strap company. They use the best American leather, top grain, and full-grain and they even use the legendary Horween leather on some of their straps they even have some Chromexcel products. Some of the Raw leather straps start off very hard and stiff but they break in over time and form a really cool patina as they age. I also highly recommend these.

Gordy’s Camera Straps

Available At: Gordyscamerastraps

If you’re looking for little leather wrist straps Gordy makes some cool designs. I’ve used his wrist straps for years and they’ve held up better than my other cheap leather wrist straps. They also make some interesting full straps.

Modern Straps

For modern straps made of synthetic materials I pretty much just use Peak Design these days. I like using the hand strap with a full strap. These modern straps are nice because you can get them wet and you don’t have to worry about them leaving any stains on anything like you do with leather.

Peak Design Clutch

Available At:Peak Design Clutch Strap Amazon

The Peak Design Clutch is a hand strap that mounts to a slim arca-swiss base plate so your camera is always ready to go on a tripod. You can also connect the Peak Design ties to this so you can attach a full strap directly to the hand strap. It’s a cool setup and it’s what I use most of the time.

Peak Design Slide Strap

Peak Design Slide StrapAvailable At: Amazon

Peak Design makes a few cool Slide straps. For a smaller camera, you can probably get a slimmer size, but I’ve listed you the medium size which is what I use for my bigger full-frame mirrorless cameras.

These straps are great because they are so easy to take on and off of your camera and the slide system makes it super easy to adjust the size.

This is definitely the most convenient strap out there.

Peak Design Cuff

Available At: Amazon

Another Strap I use regularly is the Peak Design Cuff. I use it on my smaller cameras and it’s great for the A6600. I used it primarily when I rent these or when I owned my A6300. These are fully compatible with the peak design lock system so if you go all peak design it’s really easy to change out your strap configuration. I love it.

Cleaning Accessories

There are a few essential cleaning accessories you probably should own.

I’ll list some cleaning accessories I use frequently, but if you really want to nerd out on cleaning gear I have a full list of gear and tips on camera and sensor cleaning.

Rocket Air Blaster

Available At: Amazon

These are must-have air blasters. You can buy any air blaster of course and they will get the job done. I just like these Rocket Air blasters because you can set them upright and you don’t have to worry about them rolling away. I’ve owned at least four of these over the years and always keep in in my bag if I know I’m going to be changing lenses.

Micro-Fiber Cleaning Cloths 6-Pack

Available At: Amazon

You can clean your lenses and cameras out in the field with a T-shirt. I do it all the time. However, when you need to give your lens, UV filter or ND filter a good cleaning you will need something like a microfiber cloth. Nothing will pull off lint, dirt and oil better than micro fiber. Here is a great six-pack.

Sensor Brush

Sensor brushAvailable At: Amazon

If you’re trying to get dust off your sensor, you don’t need to go the full wet cleaning method everyone is talking about. 90% of the time all you need is a sensor brush. Unless you have oil or fingerprints on your sensor, this will work.

Make sure you never touch the tip of the brush and keep it in its packaging when not in use.

Best Accessories Sony A6600 Conclusions

I’ll keep posting different accessories as I find them. I no longer have my A6300 but I’ll probably grab one of the newer models with IBIS eventually. I’m still very interested in these cameras and always rent them so I will keep an eye out for any cool accessories that I find.
