My Thoughts On The New Sony A7sII
I think this camera is great. I personally think the insain low light capabilities is kind of a gimmick, unless maybe you’re Michael Mann.
I personally think for the price, the Sony A7rII is a much better option. Sure the video won’t be as good, but the whole point of buying into this form factor is to have a camera that can also perform well as a still camera, which the A7rII does and the A7SII does not. Why not just buy a video camera if you don’t care about stills?
With 4k no line skipping or pixel binning APC-S recording on the Sony A7rII, video quality is more than good enough for most people, even Michael Mann. Consider that many feature films were shot on the Canon 5Dmkii and the 7D. Even Mad Max used 5Dmkii as B-Cams and GoPros were used in BlackHat.
Just my two sense, love to hear your thoughts.
