7 Must-Have Accessories Fujifilm X-H2s

  • January 31, 2023
  • AGriffin

Regardless if you’re a seasoned photographer or just starting out, selecting the best accessories for your Fuji X-H2s can play a big role in elevating your creative journey. From lens filters to camera straps, the right accessory can significantly impact the outcome and quality of your work, expand the functionality of the camera and improve reliability.

Here are some of my favorite accessories.

1. Screen Protector

Rieibi X-H2s Screen Protector – 3 Pack 0.3mm 9H Hardness

Fujifilm X-H2s Screen ProtectorThe Rieibi X-H2s Screen Protector 3 Pack is a top choice for photographers seeking a screen protector for their X-H2s. This pack features three pieces of tempered glass with 9H hardness, 0.3mm thick, and is accompanied by additional top display covers. The 9H rating is a trusted hardness for most camera screen protectors, ensuring long-lasting protection. With two extra screen protectors included, photographers can have peace of mind knowing that their device is guarded against chips and cracks over time.

Note: Removing 9H protectors for replacement can be tricky, I use a hair dryer to apply light heat beforehand can make the process smoother.

2. Batteries

The Fujifilm X-H2s uses the FUJIFILM NP-W235 Lithium-Ion Battery battery.

Official Fujifilm NP-W235 Battery

Official Fujifilm NP-W235 Battery

The NP-W235 Battery by Fujifilm is the recommended Li-ion battery for the Fujifilm X-H2s. It provides a high capacity of 2200 mAh and a powerful 7.6V. For serious photographers, having a few official batteries on hand is ideal. I usually only need one battery per day for my photography, unless I am shooting in low temperatures. I keep one official battery and several backup third-party batteries for my cameras. However, for professional shooting, I would recommend primarily using official batteries to avoid the risk of unexpected compatibility issues, as seen with some third-party batteries on other camera brands.

Available At: Amazon / Adorama / B&H

Maximize your charging with the FUJIFILM BC-W235 Dual Battery Charger, designed to power up two NP-W235 batteries simultaneously. Keep an eye on the charging progress of both batteries through the built-in, illuminated screen.

Great for traveling photographers that need to charge up several batteries quickly and reliably.

Available At: Amazon / Adorama / B&H

Third-Party Wasabi

Wasabi Third-Party batteries Fujifilm x-t5

For those in search of a reliable third-party battery for their Fujifilm camera, the Wasabi NP-W235 is a top choice. With a reputation for producing high-quality batteries, Wasabi is a trusted brand in the industry.

If shopping at B&H, Watson or SmallRig batteries are also excellent options to consider.

4. Grips / Cases

Camera cases and grips for the Fujifilm X-H2s provide improved handling and protection for the camera. They offer a secure fit to prevent scratches and impacts and provide a larger, more comfortable grip for shooting in challenging conditions or with larger lenses. The grip helps to balance the camera and reduces hand fatigue, resulting in an overall enhanced user experience and protection for the investment.

SmallRig X-H2s Cage For Fujifilm X-H2s

Small Rig Cage X-H2sEnhance and protect your FUJIFILM X-H2s with SmallRig’s Camera Cage. Made of durable aluminum, this form-fitting cage shields your camera from daily wear and tear while allowing full access to all functions, displays, ports, and batteries.

FUJIFILM VG-XH Vertical Battery Grip

FUJIFILM VG-XH Vertical Battery GripThe Fujifilm VG-XH Vertical Battery Grip is specifically designed for the FUJIFILM X-H2S mirrorless camera. It enhances vertical shooting and doubles the battery life by accommodating two NP-W235 rechargeable lithium-ion batteries. The grip has a comfortable shape with a secondary shutter release button, focus lever, AE-L button, AF-ON button, front and rear command dials, and Q button, mimicking the camera’s layout for easy handling.

FUJIFILM FT-XH File Transmitter GripThe Fujifilm FT-XH File Transmitter Grip is a dedicated accessory for the Fujifilm X-H2S mirrorless camera, designed to improve its networking capabilities with fast Wi-Fi connectivity (up to 600 Mb/s) and wired LAN options for tethered shooting. It functions as a battery grip, providing vertical orientation shooting and extended battery life, and has physical controls such as a secondary shutter button, focus lever, and buttons for quick access to camera functions.

5. Mist Filters

Enhance your night cityscape photography and add a touch of cinematic magic to both your videos and stills with the use of mist filters. My personal favorites are the uncoated Cinebloom filters that add an extra layer of luminance and reflections and Tiffen’s black mist filters which feature coated glass for a more predictable controlled look.

Moment CineBloom Diffusion Filter

Cinebloom Diffusion Filter

Moment Cinebloom Diffusion Filters are a unique breed of mist filters that add a touch of luminance to your shots due to the uncoated glass. Unlike coated filters, Cinebloom adds extra reflections, perfect for cityscape night photography and videos that demand a cinematic feel. The brass filter threads ensure a smooth and jam-free experience.

For general photography, I recommend starting with 10% power. You’ll lose a little less than 1/3 of stops of light or less.

See my full Moment Cinebloom filter review.

Available At: Amazon / Adorama / B&H

Tiffen Black Pro Mist Filter

Tiffen Black Pro Mist

The Tiffen Black Pro Mist filter is a coated camera filter designed for use in photography and videography. Its nanoparticle configuration creates a unique diffusion effect that softens highlights, reduces contrast, and gives your shots a cinematic look. Ideal for low-light and backlit situations, this filter can produce a beautiful halo effect. Its brass filter threads ensure a secure and stable fit on lenses.

If you’re unsure what power to start with, I recommend 1/4. Not too powerful but still provides a very obvious effect. You’ll likely lose around 1/3 of stops of light or less.

6 Straps

Using a camera strap with the Fujifilm X-H2s enhances the overall shooting experience, combining comfort and accessibility. With a variety of styles and materials, from luxurious leather to soft fabrics, photographers can personalize their cameras to reflect their unique style. A good strap offers secure and convenient carrying, freeing up hands for other tasks.

Full Straps Synthetic

Peak Design straps have a lot of great options for the Fujifilm mirrorless system. I often use the Clutch hand strap with an additional strap attached.

The Peak Design Clutch Camera Strap is an ideal choice for those looking for a secure hold and quick attachment and detachment for their camera. With an Arca-Swiss base plate, extra loops for secondary strap options, and adjustable side features, this hand strap offers customizable modularity.

Peak Design Slide Lite

Full Leather Strap

I’ve gone through and tested many different stylish leather straps that match the Fuji X-H2s camera nicely. Although they are pricier, they are made of genuine leather, making them strong and potentially long-lasting with proper care. Here are the brands that stood out to me.

  • Tap and Dye – Camera Straps and Wrist Straps – The camera straps from Tap & Dye are stylish and high-quality. They have a range of designs made from different leather materials, including full-grain and top-grain leather which may feel stiff at first but will soften over time. An excellent option for camera straps.
  • Gordy’s – Horizontal / Vertical / Sling – The Gordy’s straps showcase exceptional craftsmanship, giving them a charming rustic look. Constructed for durability, they offer robustness and reliability, making them a top pick for those who desire a distinct touch. I’ve used a Gordy’s wrist strap for an extended period and can vouch for its longevity.
  • HardGraft – Instant Camera Strap – HardGraft creates exceptional quality straps. The Re-Process strap has been a reliable choice for me and my Fujifilm X-Pro2 for years. With numerous options available, HardGraft is definitely worth considering for those in search of a top-notch camera strap.
  • Luigicases – Luigi’s deluxe camera straps are renowned for their high quality and are highly recommended by photographers. Although their website may be outdated, their straps can still be found through a quick Google search or possibly on eBay.

Rope Camera Straps

Vi Vante Luxury Sheetline Rope Strap

Vi Vante Rope StrapThe Vi Vante Luxury Sheetline Rope is the only rope camera strap I use. It’s lengthy at 47″, and its size can’t be customized, but if you’re tall or prefer cross-carry, it’s a great option. I use it exclusively on my Leica M11. Other rope straps are used by friends, but I don’t have much experience with them.

7. Cleaning Supplies

Using the correct cleaning accessories for the Fujifilm X-H2s is important in maintaining its condition and producing high-quality images. These accessories, such as lens cleaning cloths and blowers, help remove dirt and fingerprints to keep the camera looking and functioning at its best.

Here are the best cleaning supplies for the Fujifilm X-H2s.

I have a whole article on cleaning accessories and there are a few that you absolutely should have no matter what. If you want to see more accessories for wet sensor cleaning, check out this guide to cleaning accessories here.

Micro-Fiber Cleaning Cloths 6-Pack

These cleaning products are a must-have for lens maintenance. They effectively clean UV filters or lenses without leaving any residue or particles behind. It’s convenient to purchase them in bulk (e.g. 6-pack) to always have some readily available.

Available At: Amazon

Rocket Air Blaster

The Rocket Air blasters are a great option among the many air blasters available. Their fins allow them to stand upright on a desk while you work, avoiding the inconvenience of rolling around.

The medium size is the most practical, but they come in different sizes to suit your needs.

Available At: Amazon

Sensor Brush

Sensor brushes are one of the most effective tools for cleaning camera sensors. They effectively remove dirt and dust that can’t be removed with air blasters.

It’s important to store the brush in its case and keep the bristles sterile to ensure its longevity. I have been using a sensor brush for several years and rarely need to use wet sensor swabs.

Nitecore BB2 Electric Blower

BB2 BlowerThe Nitecore BB2 Electric Blower is a must-have accessory for photographers and videographers, especially product photographers. Its powerful yet gentle airflow makes it ideal for removing dust and debris from camera gear and lenses. It’s compact, lightweight, and rechargeable, perfect for carrying on shoots. Both professionals and amateurs alike will benefit from this efficient tool.
