7 Must-Have Accessories For The Fujifilm X-T5

  • February 25, 2023
  • AGriffin

Paring the best accessories with the Fujifilm X-T5 can elevate your photography experience, allowing for more creative freedom and efficient production. From lens filters to camera straps, the right accessory can make a big difference in the quality of your shots and overall satisfaction with the camera. Whether you’re a seasoned photographer or just starting out, choosing the right accessories for your Fuji X-T5 can greatly enhance your creative journey.

Here are the best accessories for the Fujifilm X-T5. I also want to say, Fujifilm’s latest official accessories are the best there are from any brand. I have been very impressed with what Fujifilm has been doing lately.

Fujifilm X-T5 – Amazon / Adorama / B&H

1. Screen Protector

Debous X-T5 Screen Protector – 3 Pack 0.3mm 9H Hardness

Best Screen Protector Fujifilm X-T5The Debous X-T5 Screen Protector 3 Pack is a great option for photographers looking for a screen protector for their X-T5. This pack includes three pieces of 0.3mm thick 9H hardness tempered glass and also comes with a cold shoe bubble level and soft shutter release. It’s rated as a 9H hardness which is what I use on most of my cameras. It comes with 2 extra screen protectors which are useful since these screen protectors can chip and crack over time.

The 9H screen protectors can be a little difficult to get off. I usually use a hair dryer to apply light heat before trying to replace screen protectors.

2. Batteries

The Fujifilm X-T5 uses the FUJIFILM NP-W235 Lithium-Ion Battery battery.

Official Fujifilm NP-W235 Battery

Official Fujifilm NP-W235 Battery

The official Fujifilm NP-W235 Battery is the approved Li-ion battery that offers up to 2200 mAh at 16 Wh with 7.6V of power. For serious shooters, it’s nice to have one or two official batteries. Personally, when shooting photography I don’t typically use more than one battery in a day unless I’m shooting in cold conditions. For most of my cameras, I keep one official battery and a few third-party backups. However, if I were shooting video professionally, I would primarily use official batteries for the peace of mind of knowing no firmware update or any other random issues will disable my batteries as we see sometimes happing with some third-party batteries for some camera brands.

Available At: Amazon / Adorama / B&H

FUJIFILM BC-W235 Dual Battery Charger

FUJIFILM BC-W235 Dual Battery Charger

The FUJIFILM BC-W235 Dual Battery Charger is a great way to charge your Fujifilm batteries quickly and conveniently. Unlike conventional battery chargers, the dual design allows you to charge two batteries simultaneously without having to plug your camera into the wall outlet via USB which can wear out the USB port or risk surges that can damage your camera’s mainboard. This is especially helpful for travelers who need to recharge their batteries quickly before heading to their next destination.

Available At: Amazon / Adorama / B&H

Third-Party Wasabi

Wasabi Third-Party batteries Fujifilm x-t5

When shopping for a third-party battery for your Fujifilm camera, the Wasabi NP-W235 is a great option. Wasabi has been manufacturing high-quality batteries since its inception and is considered one of the most reliable third-party battery brands.

Alternatively, if you’re shopping at B&H you can use Watson or SmallRig batteries – both great options as well.

3. Memory Cards

Best Memory Card Fujifilm X-T6In the search for the perfect memory cards to complement your Fujifilm X-T5, there exist many subtleties to consider. Allow this guide to be your trusted compass, guiding you through the maze of options to a choice of unparalleled excellence.

4. Grips / Cases

Using a camera case or grip on the Fujifilm X-T5 enhances the overall handling and protection of the camera. Camera cases offer a snug fit for the X-T5, providing protection from scratches and impacts. Camera grips provide a larger and more comfortable grip for holding the camera, particularly useful for shooting in challenging conditions or with larger lenses. It also helps to balance the camera and reduces hand fatigue. Using a case or grip on the Fujifilm X-T5 enhances the overall user experience and protects your investment. All my cameras have some form of a grip or protective half-case.

FUJIFILM MHG-XT5 Metal Hand Grip

FUJIFILM MHG-XT5 Metal Hand Grip

The Fujifilm X-T5 no longer ships with the option for a battery grip.

Photographers looking for some extra support can find it with the MHG-XT5 Metal Hand Grip which has been specifically designed for the XT-5 Mirrorless Camera, providing users with improved handling and control. Crafted from aluminum alloy, this ergonomic grip seamlessly follows the curves of your camera and gives additional clearance at the bottom, so you can use large lenses without compromising stability when mounted to a tripod. The Arca-Swiss compatible quick-release plate is conveniently located at the base of the hand grip as well.

Available At: Amazon / Adorama / B&H

SmallRig X-T5 Handgrip L-Shape Grip

SmallRig L-Shape Grip for Fujifilm X-T5

Designed with convenience and portability in mind, the SmallRig X-T5 Handgrip L-Shape Grip is specifically designed to improve the ergonomics of your FUJIFILM X-T5 Camera. Featuring an ergonomically designed silicone hand grip, it provides a comfortable and stable grip experience without slipping. Plus, there’s a quick-release plate for Arca on the bottom so you can quickly switch between handheld and tripod shots. It’s also lightweight at just 79g, making it easy to take with you anywhere. And if that wasn’t enough, a soft-release shutter button is included.

Available At: Amazon / B&H

Gariz Leather Half Case

Gariz Leather Half Case Fujifilm X-T5Gariz Leather Half Case For Fujifilm X-T5 is a great choice for photographers who want protection for their cameras without adding too much bulk. This accessory features a chrome metal bottom and genuine leather to provide a snug fit for the Fujifilm X-T5 body while adding an elegant touch to your camera.

Personally, I usually buy the Lim’s cases because of the built-in Arca Swiss mount, or if I’m not planning on using a tripod I’ll go with a Kaza case for a more retro bulkier case. But neither of those brands has cases ready. So if you don’t mind using tripod plates, the Gariz cases are very lightweight and keep the camera well protected.

Available At: Amazon

Fujifilm X-T5 Thumb Grip

Fujifilm X-T5 Thumb RestThere are a few great options for thumb grips for the Fujifilm X-T5. With all my X-T cameras I’ve always gone with Lensmate since they are slightly higher quality with additional rubber sections added to the grip, but the Haoge grips (Amazon) are also very nice for the cheaper options. I use the Haoge thumb grip on one of my other cameras.

Available At: Amazon (Black) / Amazon (Silver)

5. Mist Filters

Over time, I have really come to love diffusion filters, which can significantly enhance cityscape photography at night and impart a cinematic feel to both video and still imagery.

My top two recommended brands are Cinebloom and Tiffen. Cinebloom filters are uncoated and introduce extra reflections that lend a distinctive luminance. Tiffen filters are coated, utilizing a nanoparticle configuration that I personally find most appealing of all filter options.

Both of these brands use brass filter threads so you won’t have to worry about them getting jammed on your lens. If you’re unsure about if you’ll like one of these filters, you can try a cheaper option by K&F Concept.

Both Cinebloom and Tiffen utilize brass filter threads, ensuring reliable compatibility and avoiding the risk of lens jamming. For those not yet willing to invest in these higher-end filters, K&F Concept offers a more economical alternative for consideration. Nisi and a brand in Japan known as Kenko also make diffusion filters that perform very similarly.

Moment CineBloom Diffusion Filter

Cinebloom Diffusion FilterMoment Cinebloom diffusion filters are a type of mist filter used in photography and videography. These filters are uncoated and are designed to introduce extra reflections, adding to the overall glow of a scene. They are favored for their ability to impart a cinematic quality to footage and are compatible with brass filter threads.

I recommend starting with the 10% power for general shooting and night photography and videography.

See my full Moment Cinebloom filter review.

Tiffen Black Pro Mist Filter

Tiffen Black Pro Mist

Tiffen Black Pro Mist filter is a camera filter used in photography and videography. It is a coated filter that utilizes a nanoparticle configuration to achieve a distinctive diffusion effect. The black Pro Mist filter softens highlights and reduces contrast, creating a more cinematic look. It is ideal for low-light and backlit situations, where it can create a pleasing halo effect. The filter uses brass filter threads, ensuring a secure and reliable fit on lenses.

I recommend starting with the 1/4 power for general shooting and night cityscapes.

Review coming soon.

6 Straps

Adorning the Fujifilm X-T5 with a camera strap weaves comfort and convenience into the very fabric of photography. A spectrum of styles and materials, from rich leather to plush fabric, invites the photographer to personalize their camera and reflect their own unique flair.

Here are some of the best straps for the Fujifilm X-T5.

Wrist Straps

Gordy’s Camera Straps

Gordy's leather camera wrist strap for the Fuji X100fAvailable At: Gordyscamerastraps

Gordy’s offers an array of exquisite full straps and leather wrist straps, handcrafted with unparalleled strength and durability. The Gordy’s strap exudes a sturdy feel, embodying the essence of high-quality craftsmanship that sets it apart from its flimsy, factory-made counterparts. Its unbreakable design promises a lifetime of dependable support for your camera.

Hard Graft Slide Camera Wrist Strap

Hard Graft Italian leather camera wrist strap for the X100fAvailable At: HardGraft

The Hard Graft Slide wrist strap is a well-made, high-quality option. I consider it one of the best wrist straps available and has a nice aesthetic. I wrote up a small review on this strap you can read about – Hard Graft Slide Camera Strap Review

The only problem with this strap is it can get tight around your wrist since there is no resistance to the slide. But this is the strap I often use with my X100V.

Full Straps Synthetic

Peak Design straps have a lot of great options for the Fujifilm mirrorless system. I often use the Clutch hand strap with an additional strap attached.

Peak Design Clutch Camera Strap

Peak Design Clutch

The Peak Design Clutch Camera Strap is a great option for those who want to keep their camera secure while also having the flexibility to quickly attach and detach it. This hand strap comes equipped with an Arca-Swiss base plate featuring extra loops to accommodate a secondary strap and side adjustments that let you customize your modular system.

Available At: Amazon / B&H

Peak Design Slide Lite

Peak Design Slide Strap

The Peak Design Slide Lite strap is ideal for mirrorless cameras like the Fuji X-T5. This particular strap features an innovative attachment system that makes it very easy to put on and take off. It comes in a variety of different thicknesses, so you can choose one that works best for your camera setup and size of lenses.

Available At: Amazon / B&H

Full Leather Strap

I discovered several attractive leather straps that complement the Fuji X-T5 camera well. Although they come with a higher price tag, they are crafted from genuine leather, making them durable and potentially long-lasting with proper maintenance.

  • Tap and Dye – Camera Straps and Wrist Straps – The accessories and straps from Tap & Dye are great. Their straps are elegantly understated and feature exceptional quality. They offer several styles crafted from various leather materials. It’s worth noting that some of these straps made from the veg-tanned full grain or top grain may initially feel stiff but will eventually soften with use. Overall, they are a solid choice for camera straps.
  • Gordy’s – Horizontal / Vertical / Sling – Gordy’s straps exude a handcrafted quality, lending them a rustic appeal. Built to last, they are sturdy and dependable, making them an excellent choice for those seeking a unique touch. I’ve personally have used a Gordy’s wrist strap for an extended period of time and can attest to its durability.
  • HardGraft – Instant Camera Strap – HardGraft makes some really nice straps of outstanding quality. I’ve been using the Re-Process strap for years with my Fujifilm X-Pro2 and love it. They have many options now and are definitely worth considering.
  • Luigicases – Luigi’s deluxe straps offer exceptional quality in camera accessories. Despite having a primitive website, the straps are highly recommended by photographers. They can be easily found through a Google search and potentially on eBay.

Rope Camera Straps

Vi Vante Luxury Sheetline Rope Strap

Vi Vante Rope StrapThe only rope strap I’ve been using is the Vi Vante Luxury Sheetline Rope. It’s fairly long at 47″ and can’t be ordered in different sizes, but if you’re tall or like cross carry it’s a pretty nice strap. I use it exclusively on my Leica M11.

There are other options out there that many of my friends use, I just don’t have a lot of experience with them.

7. Cleaning Supplies

The use of cleaning accessories for the Fujifilm X-T5 is an important aspect of maintaining the camera’s appearance and functionality. A combination of lens cleaning cloths, blowers, and other specialized tools helps to keep the camera in top condition. With the right cleaning supplies, you can ensure that your Fujifilm X-T5 continues to perform at its best for many years to come.

Here are the best cleaning supplies for the Fujifilm X-T5.

I have a whole article on cleaning accessories and there are a few that you absolutely should have no matter what. If you want to see more accessories for wet sensor cleaning, check out this guide to cleaning accessories here.

Micro-Fiber Cleaning Cloths 6-Pack

These are essential cleaning products. This is the best way to clean UV filters or lenses since they won’t leave behind any lint or dust.

I buy these in 6-packs so that I always have a few on hand.

Available At: Amazon

Rocket Air Blaster

There are many air blasters out there. I like the Rocket Air blasters because you can stand them up on their fins and they won’t roll around on your desk as your working.

They come in a few different sizes, I’ve found medium to be the most useful size.

Available At: Amazon

Sensor Brush

Seriously, these sensor brushes are the best way to clean your sensor. If you’re just cleaning up dust and dirt that won’t come off with the air blaster, the sensor brush is unbeatable.

Keep the brush in its bang and in the tube and it will last you forever. Just never touch the bristols and keep them as sterile as possible.

I almost never use the wet sensor swabs once I got a sensor brush five years ago.

Whether you’re a professional or an amateur, the Nitecore BB2 Electric Blower is a must-have accessory for keeping your camera and lenses in top shape.
