1. Screen Protector
Expert Shield Screen Protector – Optical Grade GlassI usually use Expert Shield screen protectors when they are available for my cameras. They have a few options, Anti-Glare, Crystal Clear, or Glass. Sometimes on my daytime street cameras, I like to use the Anti-Glare, but on my Leica M11, I’m using Glass. Other brands sell 2 or 3 packs for those who are not entirely confident in applying their screen protectors. However, my Expert Shield order did come with 2. So I’m not sure if they changed what they offered or if it was just a mistake. Regardless, they guarantee everything and will always send you a new screen protector if anything cracks or gets messed up. I’ve used their warranty before and it’s very easy and quick to use. Made from optical grade glass cut to fit your Leica screen. Available At: Amazon |
kinokoo Leica M11 Screen Protector – 0.25mm 9H Tempered GlassKinokoo has a 2-pack 9H Tempered Glass screen protector made in Japan. This gives you two screens right out of the box that you can try in case you mess one up, and it’s quite a bit cheaper than the ExperShield. I’m not sure if there is a difference in Glass between kinkoo and Expert Shield. At the end of the day, it probably doesn’t matter that much. Available At: Amazon |
2. Batteries
The Leica M11 uses the Leica EN-BP-SCL7 Lithium-Ion Battery battery.
Official Leica BP-SCL7 Lithium-Ion BatteryThe Leica BP-SCL7 Battery is the official Li-ion battery for the M11, providing up to 1800mAh and 13.32Wh of power at 7.4V. It’s probably best to have one extra battery on hand. I’d also recommend primarily using official batteries to avoid compatibility issues and ensure that firmware updates or other unforeseen issues do not affect the battery’s performance, which can be a concern with some third-party batteries for certain camera brands. But I’ve yet to see any good third-party batteries for the Leica M11. |
Leica Charger for BC-SCL7 M11 BatteryThe official charger is the BP-SCL7. This charger should come with the M11, but if you need an extra because you left yours in a hotel or are looking to charge multiple batteries at once, this is your best option. It has LED indicators that display charging status and a USB Type-C input for efficient power transfer. I don’t personally love regularly charging my battery through my cameras since you’re passing a voltage through your main board, which could surge or break things if you’re using a damaged cable or bad wall adapter. So this is my go-to for charging batteries. |
3. Memory Cards
I have conducted a comprehensive benchmark of various popular memory card brands for the Leica M11. Be cautious when choosing a memory card, as some, like the Sony Tough may be too thick, and some may not function optimally. Check out this guide for the best options. |
4. Electronic Viewfinder
Leica Visoflex 2 EVFIf you’re looking for a different way to frame your shots, check out the Leica Visoflex 2 – it’s an awesome electronic viewfinder designed to work with specific Leica cameras. This EVF is perfect for tough lenses like ultra-wide-angle, telephoto, or macro, which can be a challenge to use with a rangefinder camera. The Visoflex 2 uses a high-quality 3.7MP OLED panel for clear, crisp images and 100% frame coverage, plus it has an adjustable diopter for comfortable viewing. Capable of upward tilting design with 0°, 45°, and 90° positioning steps makes it super versatile, especially when you’re working from low angles. Before ordering this, be sure to check out the Visoflex 2 Review. |
5. Soft Shutter Releases
The Leica M11 is a bulkier camera so you can use smaller soft shutters or larger ones. Sizes are usually 8mm or 12mm. On some of the smaller cameras, like the Fujifilm cameras or the M film cameras, the larger size shutters sometimes don’t look right but the 12mm size usually looks great on the M11. If you decide to do your own searching for soft shutters, try to get one that has a rubber washer.
I go through a lot of soft shutters since they fall off or sometimes I swap between cameras, here are a few I like.
Leica Soft Release Button*There are many different colors and options from Leica here. Be sure to search for more options by Leica to see the color variance. They also have an 8mm Soft Release, but I think the 12mm is a little nicer on the bigger digital bodies like the M11. The Leica 12mm/0.47″ Soft Release Red Button can be easily installed into the shutter button of any analog or digital M camera. It features a painted brass finish and can also be used as a fashionable accessory, as it can be worn as a pin on clothing items. |
JJC Soft ShutterThis JJC Soft Release Button is made of pure copper with a microfiber leather surface. Ensuring a soft and comfortable touch on the top of your camera. It comes with 2 rubber rings for a secure attachment and effectively reduces camera vibration. This button not only enhances the functionality of your camera but also adds a stylish and elegant touch to its appearance. Currently using this one on my Silver M11. Back with the center Red to go with the ‘Red Dot’ theme of Leica. Kind of fun. Available At: Amazon |
Lensmate Soft ShutterI’ve used Lensmate on many of my cameras and even had one on my M11 for a while. These are very high quality, but the smaller size for the M11 – is great for Fujifilm cameras or if you’re looking for a more sleek look and feel. The Leica M11 is a bulkier camera and can work well with a larger soft shutter, but these feel great under the finger and work well. You can order them in Aluminum or Brass. Available At: Amazon |
VKO Wood Soft ShutterEach button features unique wood grain and a 12mm concave surface for a comfortable grip while taking photos. Made of high-quality wood and brass thread screw, this soft shutter release button has been hand-polished and treated with beeswax, giving it a natural and elegant look without the use of paint. The button also comes with 2 rubber rings for secure attachment. These feel amazing, I love concave thumb rests the most and this feels amazing and fits perfectly on the M11. Available At: Amazon |
6. Leather Cases
I have a few cases for the Leica M11 now. I’m still hoping Lim’s makes a case, but here are some options.
Official Leica M11 CaseThis is the official Leica M11 case. Instead of using cheaper genuine leather, it uses Naturally Tanned leather which does justify some of the cost here, but there are some other maybe better options I’ll list if you’re looking for a case in this price range. This case, however, is great if you’re just in the Leica store and want to buy something immediately as you buy your camera. I scratched the bottom of my M11 in the first week I had it while waiting for a new case. So this could be your first case, and maybe a few years later, you can try something else. I have a few cases for my M11 now since it’s fun to mix things up. |
SIUTATDSH Leica M11 CaseThis is the daily driver that I use now. I felt I needed a case with a hand grip to improve the camera’s ergonomics. I originally bought mine in Japan under a different brand name but you can find the same case in the USA under the name SIUTATDSH. Available At: Amazon |
There is also a BolinUS case that I haven’t tried, but it is less expensive and getting great reviews.

7. Grips – Handgrips – Thumb Support
Using a handgrip on the Leica M11 provides a secure and comfortable grip, allowing for more stable handling of the camera. It improves ergonomics and makes it easier to hold the camera for extended periods.
Hand Grips
Leica M11 HandGripThis Handgrip is specially designed for the Leica M11 camera and attaches to the camera’s tripod mount. Its large right-hand grip improves stability and comfort while shooting. The grip features an integrated Arca-style dovetail for direct attachment to tripod heads, eliminating the need for a quick-release plate. The grip also allows for seamless access to the camera’s battery and memory card slot, as well as its USB type-C port, while attached. |
Really Right Stuff Leica M11 L-Plate With GripThe Leica M11 L-Plate Plus Grip from Really Right Stuff provides secure handling and improved ergonomics. This machined aluminum bracket allows access to the camera’s battery and memory card slots. The plate features a custom-machined 1/4″-20 threaded, captive-style mounting screw that threads into the camera’s tripod mounting socket and is fully compatible with any standard 1.5″ dovetail style quick release system. Available At: B&H |
Most of the thumb supports designed for the Leica M10 will also fit the M11.
Leica M11 Thumb Support – OfficialThe Leica M11 Thumb Support is the official thumb grip for the M11. Simply slide it into the hot shoe for a more secure grip, especially during one-handed photography. The thumb support is made of aluminum with a sleek black finish, blending seamlessly with the camera body. Since there is no way to turn off your touch screen, these thumb grips can help you get your thumb listed off the camera slightly so it’s not always pressing on the top left of your LCD screen, messing up your focus position. |
Haoge THB M11 Thumb RestIf you’re looking for third-party Thumb Support for the Leica M11, this is the best one. The Black Thumbs Up Grip is a great, affordable option for your Leica M10 or M10-P camera. This also fits perfectly on the Leica M11. With its secure grip, you can hold your camera in any position with ease and comfort. The 22-degree angle between your thumb and the camera helps maintain stability, and the strong metal construction, combined with foam at contact points, offers protection and a non-slip grip to prevent camera shake. Made from high-quality aviation aluminum, this grip has been polished to a smooth finish, ensuring a sense of quality and durability. Please note that it is a third-party product,t and there could be some copy-to-copy variation with less-than-perfect tolerances. I’m testing one and will have more information soon. 8. Straps
Using a strap on a Leica M11 provides a comfortable and secure way to carry the camera. With a variety of styles and materials to choose from, the strap allows the photographer to personalize their camera while ensuring ease of access and peace of mind when carrying the camera for extended periods. Whether shooting while traveling or shooting portraits, a strap allows for comfortable handling and added stability, making it a must-have accessory for any photographer using the Leica M11.
Full Straps Synthetic
For synthetic straps that won’t hold stink if you sweat on them, Peak Design has my favorite options. Although I feel like it’s a little bit of a sin to let those little red dangly attachments hang from your Leica when your strap is not in use. So don’t do that or I’ll call the Leica police, and they will take your camera away.
Peak Design Slide LiteThe Peak Design Slide Lite Strap is great for mirrorless cameras like the Leica M11. It features an innovative attachment system for quick and easy installation and removal and is available in various thickness options to accommodate different camera setups and lens sizes. For the M11 you might want to go with their medium or thin option. Available At: B&H |
Full Leather Strap
If you’re looking for a touch of luxury and durability in your camera accessories, then a leather camera strap is a fantastic option for your Leica M11. These straps, although a bit pricier, are made from genuine leather and will last for years to come with proper care.
I’ve tried a few leather straps over the years, and I can recommend a few that I think would work great for the Leica M11.

Rope Camera Straps
Using a rope strap on a Leica camera adds a touch of adventure and rustic charm to your photography experience. The soft, woven texture of the rope provides a comfortable grip and a unique look. A rope strap offers both comfort and style.
Vi Vante Luxury Sheetline Rope StrapThe Vi Vante Luxury Sheetline Rope is my go-to rope strap for the M11, and I couldn’t be happier with it. At 47 inches in length, it’s ideal for taller individuals or normal-sized people who like cross-carrying their cameras. While it may not be adjustable in size, its bulkiness and durability make it a solid choice for carrying a Leica M11. Overall, I’m a fan of the Vi Vante Luxury Sheetline Rope and highly recommend it. Available At: Amazon |
9. Cleaning Supplies

Rocket Air BlasterThe Rocket Air Blasters are a must-have for lens and filter cleaning. Their sturdy design keeps them upright in your workspace and their range of sizes offers allows you to match your needs. I find the medium size to be the most convenient to use. Keep your lenses and sensor spotless with this indispensable cleaning tool. To clean your sensor in the Leica M11, you have to find the settings in the menu for sensor cleaning. This will open the shutter to allow you to see the shutter. Available At: Amazon |
Sensor BrushThe sensor brushes for cleaning your Leica M11’s sensor are a must-have tool. They effectively remove dust and dirt that can’t be cleared with air blasters. To prolong their lifespan, store the brush in its case and avoid touching the bristles. The brushes are so effective that I rarely use wet sensor swabs anymore, having switched to them years ago. Note: While sensor swabs (wet method) can bet a better way to clean your sensor, they require a certain level of expertise to use effectively. Here is a complete guide to cleaning your camera and sensor. Available At: Amazon |
Nitecore BB2 Electric BlowerThe Nitecore BB2 Electric Blower is an essential tool for photographers and videographers. Its powerful yet delicate airflow effectively removes dust and debris from sensitive camera equipment and lenses. Its compact and lightweight design makes it convenient to carry on shoots, and the rechargeable battery ensures you’re always prepared to keep your gear clean. Both professionals and hobbyists will benefit from having this accessory in their kit as it helps maintain optimal camera and lens conditions. The stiff brush on this is really good for cleaning out all the hard 90-degree angles in between the dials on the Leica M11. See a full Nitecore BB2 Electric Blower review. Available At: Amazon |
