Here is a huge list of all the best essential accessories for the Sigma fp. Keep the camera a gimbal beast or turn into a filmmaking monster, it all depends on what accessories you go with and they’re all here on this growing list.
Sigma fp Essential Accessories
I’ll start the list with the essentials, screen protectors, batteries and memory and memory cards.
Best Screen Protectors Sigma fp
There are many great brands of screen protectors but the best is Expert Shield but it looks like they won’t be making a screen protector for this camera. Luckily a few other companies are stepped up to the plate.
PCTC Expert Shield Screen Protector
PCTC has released a 2-pack glass screen protector for the Sigma FP. This is a glass screen protector with a 9H hardness factor and 6-layer of coatings. |
Best Batteries Sigma fp
Batteries don’t last very long in the Sigma fp and you can’t tether power actively so you will need several batteries.
The official batteries are the way to go, but third-party batteries are always a good option. If you’re wondering what batteries to buy for the Sigma fp, you want the Sigma BP-51. Or the BLC12 batteries work too.
Sigma BP-51 Batteries Official
These are the official Sigma batteries for the fp. You will get the longest charge out of these with the least potential for problems. For serious production, it’s nice to have a few official batteries that will get you through the shoot, then it’s nice to have third-party as an emergency backup. |
Wasabi BP-51 Third-Party Sigma fp Battery
My go-to third-party brand of batteries is always Wasabi. They are usually the best option. They have good battery life and come with cool little chargers that are very affordable. These third-party batteries do usually work best after they’ve been cycled a few times, so if you’re buying them as backup batteries, be sure to break them in a little on some less important projects. |
Watson DMW-BLC12 Third-Party Sigma fp Battery
Watson also makes a pretty good third-party battery at a reasonable price. I’ve used them a few times. If you’re shopping at B&H photo this is your best option for a third-party battery for the Sigma fp. The battery has a different name, but the Panasonic and Sigma cameras share a lot of the same tech under different names, these batteries are one of them. |
Fastest Memory Cards Sigma fp
I’ve tested all the most popular memory cards in the Sigma fp.
This camera will allow you to record CinemaDNG to internal memory cards at 8-bit. If you get the fastest Sony G cards or Sandisk cards this will work, although it’s can be a little hit and miss since this operates at the threshold of what these cards are capable of. You’re really better off recording to an external USB-C SSD if you want Cinema DNG. If you want to record with H.264 internally then these UHS-II cards are perfect for the job.
Best External SSD Sigma fp
To record 12-bit CinemaDNG with the Sigma fp you will need an external SSD. I don’t test these but the SSD drive that Sigma has listed in their tests is the Samsung T5.
Samsung T5 External SSD
This is a portable mini SSD drive by Samsung. This is probably the best external SSD for the Sigma fp as it’s the one they recommend. This drive will allow you to record 12-bit CinemaDNG with the Sigmafp. Throw some double-sided hook and loops on it and mount it to your rig. ( I like the Velcro brand ) |
Sigma fp Cases & Body Accessories
This is what makes the Sigma fp so cool. The ability to turn it into whatever you want based on what accessories you get for it.
Hopefully, more stuff comes soon, all there is right now is a grip.
Sigma fp Grips & Cages
Sigma HG-21 Large Hand GripThis is the large handgrip for the Sigma fp. This will help your hand sit in a better position so you don’t accidentally push the buttons on the back as much. This was a big problem for me when I was using the camera. |
SmallRig Cages
SmallRig Cage With Wooden Handgrip
SmallRig has a very cool cage for the Sigma FP. This significantly makes the camera more useful and more compelling. In my opinion, this is a must-have accessory for the Sigma fp. I love the SmallRig cages personally and I love the wooden grips, they feel very high quality and great in the hand. Keep in mind, SmallRig offers lots of extra accessories for their cages. For example, they make extra add-on wood grip for the left side for better two-handed control. |
Sigma fp Carrying Cases
There are a million different cases you can buy for cameras this size, but one brand of carrying cases I always find useful and use all the time are the Mirrorless Mover cases by ThinkTank.
ThinkTank Mirrorless Mover Cases
I own a few different sizes and they always come in handy for packing my cameras or lenses around. The Sigma fp will fit perfectly in the Mirrorless Mover 5 without a lens and it could fit the 10 with a small lens. Depending on the lens of course. So check these out if you’re looking for something like this. |
Cleaning Accessories
Cleaning accessories are some accessories you often overlook then hate yourself for not having them.
Here are a few of the best cleaning accessories that I like to use.
Rocket Air Blaster
The air blasters are a must-have. This is your best first step approach to cleaning sensors, lenses, lens caps, lens hoods etc. I own several of these and always keep one with me. They are so unbelievably handy. I don’t even get a commission for these on Amazon but still, recommend them because they are that important. |
Micro-Fiber Cleaning Cloths 6-Pack
I go through these like baby wipes. These are just so handy to have and having fresh ones on hand is always important. Eventually, the cleaning cloths will get oily or dusty and you’ll need to throw them out. While I often use my T-Shirt mostly for wiping my lenses and UV filters clean while in the field, it’s nice to have good cleaning cloths for critical cleaning. These will clean a UV filter or lens without leaving behind all the lint and dust like a T-Shirt will. |
Sensor Brush
There are a lot of crazy tutorials out there that teach you how to clean your sensor. But unless you have a fingerprint or something on your sensor all you’ll need is a sensor brush. Get one of these, keep it in its bag and tube when not in use. Then when you do go to use it, use the air blaster on the tip of the bristols to clean it off of any dust, then brush away the stubborn little piece of dust that wouldn’t come loose with the air blaster. If this doesn’t work, then you’ll likely need to use sensor swabs. |
Best Accessories Sigma fp Conclusions
While the list is still small, I imagine this camera will see a lot of cool modular accessories as it grows in popularity. This Sigma fp is a little titan of a camera that is not talked about much but should be. It’s video capabilities are game-changing.
I’ll keep this list updated and bug me in the comments if I’m missing anything cool.

Oh cool. I’ll check that out and update. I also see a lot more people talking about this camera which is cool too and the firmware is coming along nicely.
I have updated this list. Thanks again for letting me know the SmallRig cage was available.
